Trouble with Install: can't connect to DB

    I have installed Apache 2.2, PHP5, MySQL5 on an Win XP machine. Mysql tells me that I have a modx db set up and ready to go. When I enter my database host, login and pw I get the following:

    Server connection and login information

    Please enter the name of your server, your login name and your password and then test the connection.

    Database host: //localhost
    Database login name: root
    Database password: ********
    Click here to test your server connection and get the available collations
    Connection to host: failed!

    Can someone help? Please let me know what additional information you need to help troubleshoot. Thanks!

      Host should just be ’localhost’, not ’//localhost’

        Actually I JUST found the problem... it wanted localhost:xxxx (mysql port number). I now have MODx installed! Hurray! Thanks for your help!
