Importing a website from Xampp

Currently I am developing a modx-ified website using Xampp for Windows. I’ve never done this before, so how would I go about importing the website to my Linux-based (shared hosting with PhpMyadmin interface, I think Fedora, not 100% sure though) webhost?

Install modx on the webserver... import the templates, the images, the CSS, the other files, ... I can manage all that. But I do not have a very good idea how I should import the stuff from the database?

Hmmmm.... more reading to do!  I’m starting to see a pattern here (talking about  developing websites, not Modx in particular)... lol

Since I have moved this topic from 0961 release forum, if you are using 0961, be sure to upgrade to latest 0963. It contains lots of security/bug fixes.

We still have to do a new modX install on the new host so I’ll download the 0963 then... about backward compatibility: all functionality (chunks, templates, wayfinder, maxigallery, ...) from 0961should still work on this newer version right?

Most of them should, but its better to check.

It would be better if you upgrade while the site is on the development server (xampp in your case) and test it before putting it on live server.

And be sure to backup before upgrading.

Good to know... but it looks like I’ll be able to develop on the deployment server itself. Some might say it’s not really good practice, but I say ’immediate feedback’ :p
