[*date*] Not showing in template

Hi there hop someone can help,
I have a template with the following calls

<h1 class="name"> [*pagetitle*]</h1>
<h2 class="mainH2">[*longtitle*]</h2>
<h2 class="mainH2">[*date*]</h2>
[*#content*]

but the date is not showing up? am i doing something wrong?

[*date*] is not a valid document object. Are you using a TV named date?

There is a placeholder in Ditto named [+date+] that is manipulated via the dateSource and dateFormat parameters in Ditto. But these only work within Ditto.

The standard date fields are listed here.

Note: MODx will store the date field as a timestamp so you will need to use a date formatting snippet.

There are several dates associated with a doc like:

[*createdon*]
[*editedon*]
[*pub_date*]

etc.

[edit] You might want to use one of those, but you will have to format the date as Shane suggested. Search of date snippet, or authorTimeStamp snippet.
