Install issues 6 directories are 755

Hi I’m trying MODx for the first time so hands up if I’ve done something wrong.

Pre-install validation

Setup has carried out a number of checks to see if everything’s ready to start the setup.

Checking PHP version: OK!

Checking if Register_Globals is off: OK!

Checking if sessions are properly configured: OK!

Checking if assets/cache directory exists: OK!

Checking if assets/cache directory is writable: FAILED!

Checking if assets/cache/siteCache.idx.php file is writable: FAILED!

Checking if assets/cache/sitePublishing.idx.php file is writable: FAILED!

Checking if assets/images directory exists: OK!

Checking if assets/images directory is writable: FAILED!

Checking if assets/export directory exists: OK!

Checking if assets/export directory is writable: FAILED!

Checking if manager/includes/config.inc.php exists and is writable: FAILED!

For new Linux/Unix installs, please create a blank file named config.inc.php in the manager/includes/ directory with file permissions set to 0666.

Creating connection to the database: OK!

Checking table prefix `modx_`: OK!

Checking MySQL version: OK! Your MySQL version is: 5.0.42

Checking MySQL for strict sql_mode: OK!

My install screen please help. All my directories are 755 i even got my hosting company to check.

They need to writable by your webserver, e.g. apache, as a normal user 755 gives you access, but not the apache user.

For your webserver, they likely need to be 775 or 777.

|Now having *issues* with templates i’ve had to manually install the tattoocms "blitz" template thats fine but no menu appears. It’s in the HTML just not on the page any clues.

The snippet calls included in that template are a little outdated...

DropMenu is replaced by Wayfinder.
NewsListing is replaced by Ditto.
FlexSearchForm is replaced by AjaxSearch.

These 3 new snippets and ListIndexer are included in the latest modx release.
But you have to adjust those parameters to match your site structure.
