NewsPublisher Problems

I’m trying to enable post by web users and it’s mostly working but there are a few problems I’m having with it:

• Firstly, NewsPublisher is generating aliases like article-1229286734 instead of creating it from the title of the post like it does when a post is created from within the manager. NewsEditor snippet solved this problem.
• Secondly, after a new post is submitted it redirects to the ID of the new document instead of the document alias and since friendly URLs are being used this results in a 404. NewsEditor snippet solved this problem.
• Thirdly, new posts from the web aren’t being published. In the manager the status says published but I have go in there and resave it for it to actually show up on the site. NewsEditor snippet solved this problem.
• Fourthly, I can’t seem to get it to use an RTE with the default form. I’ve gone through the tutorial about NewsPublisher but the way it’s done there creates a new form that doesn’t have the publish and unpublish fields and it’s the minimalist version of TinyMCE. I want to keep those fields and have all the same editing options that are found in the manager.
• Finally, the publish and unpublish date selectors have no icon. I assume there’s a problem with the path to the image because it works fine in the manager. The path used in the snippet was to /manager/media/images/icons/cal.gif and cal_nodate.gif and I had to change it to /manager/media/style/MODxLight/images/icons/cal.gif and cal_nodate.gif

I’m not sure, but I think that NewsPublisher has been replaced by NewsManager (which includes NewsEditor):

I dont have NewsManager installed in 9.6.3 RC2 (could be I thought it was NewsPublisher and unchecked it in upgrade).

Cant wait to try this cool snippet from 2006!!

I’m going to create a new topic with a more appropriate name since I’m no longer working with NewsPublisher.
