Dead slow ModX site, fatal errors, inaccessible page

Hello there,

Heave been searching for and testing CMS’s off and on over the past year and a half after a nightmare experience with Plone and extremely unsatisfying experiences building sites on others. Was very excited to read the overwhelmingly great reviews of ModX at 456 Berea Street, but after reviewing modxcms.com, am continually timing out on the ModX pages, facing dead slow load times and a few fatal errors. Is this common to ModX-built sites? Or, is it that the ModXcms.com site is being upgraded this morning?

PS: Please don’t bother flaming. I’m not knocking ModX. I seriously want to know about this speed issue before committing to a project and diving into ModX.

Its working fine for me atleast and I am not aware of any error reports so far. I’ll look into it and make sure things are good with the server.

But be asured that its not something "common to modx-built sites" as far as the software concerned. But there are many factors which can affect the software function eg. hardware failure, too much sudden server loads etc.

If you can note the time (relative to GMT) and specific pages if this occurs it would be very helpful indeed. Gives us something for which to peruse through the Apache logs. That being said, the modx site is under heavy load on an old server and a migration and new site is in progress.

Ah, the speed issues suddenly make sense. It seemed odd to me that the multitude of ModX reviews and case studies I’d read contained no mention of this issue. I’m glad I asked. Thank you, again, for letting me know. Can’t tell you how thrilled I am to have a ray of CMS hope after years of struggling with them!
