"You need to test your server!" on Installation

I can’t get off this page... the fourth part of the installation.

I fill in my server information, click test, but nothing happens. I can’t continue because it says I haven’t tested my server, even though I can’t. How can I fix this please?

What r ur server settings? I can imagine how frustrating this must be for you. I think I read of a similar issue by someone else here in the forums.

There is a problem with getting a connection to your database server; it is not logical to try to continue installing if MODx can’t connect to the server! Make sure you’ve got the correct connection information. You could also mention what version of MySQL you are using; there might be some incompatibility in how the installer tries to connect.
