Can I change a documents id number? Resolved

I want to change my new home page’s id number from "50" to "1".

Is there a way to do it in Modx?

I’m thinking I could do it thru the mysql database, but I’d like to know the implications first.

It’s not advised to change a document’s ID since it’s a key field which is auto-incremented... now if you need to do it you could either duplicate your current doc 1 and then copy/paste your content from doc 50 to doc 1 (simpler !), or you could manually erase doc with ID 1 and set your doc 50 to ID 1 manually. Be careful that you’ll have to re-assign the right template to your doc afterwards. Not sure you won’t break anything though, anyone care to jump in and confirm ?

Anyway, unless you don’t use clean URLs I can’t see why the doc ID would be of any importance...

it’s late on a Friday afternoon, and I’m just trying to tidy a few things up, and maybe my befuddled brain is asking the same questions without realising it.

I guess I just wasn’t sure of the doc id’s importance in terms of site navigation, which you quite rightly point out doesn’t matter if the URLs are clean, which they are.
