Hey everybody.
I’m run my own independant webdev company. Most sites I build are hard coded, and some CMS based sites using Drupal.
Whilst I appreciate Drupal’s power, I don’t appreciate it’s complexity and performance issues (huge no. of db calls etc - though that might improve in D7).
I’ve got this project that I have been building using Drupal, but for me Drupal just get’s in the way, to the point that I seriously considered building it from scratch, maybe with the help of Codeigniter as a base framework.
Anywho, I found myself searching for other CMS’s and came across ModX. The three things that got my attention, were:
1. that designers can produce pixel perfect views(templates) using standard xHTML, CSS etc,
2. that ModX is more of a CMS framework
3. and that ModX attempts to get out of your way not in it.
Are the above features I just mentioned REALLISTIC, in a REAL world cms app?

All three answers are true and form the tenets of MODx. They are the very reason I work with MODx every day.
MODx can lead you to faster project completion and better results for your clients IF you know what you are doing and with any system, no matter how well designed that takes time to learn; MODx is no different. I’ve been working with MODx for years now and I learn new stuff all the time.
I wish you all the best with your MODx adventures, post questions here in the forums and you will find answers, new ideas and some seriously cool folks who will lead you to new solutions.
Welcome to MODx.
Cheers,
Jay
