You don't have permission to access /index.php on this server.

Could someone help me with friendly URLS? When I enable them and go to a page specified by it’s friendly URL I get You don’t have permission to access /index.php on this server.

It’s fine to access the pages by the index.php?id= but not the friendlyURL.

I would make sure you have a MODx ready .htaccess file and look at the server logs to for more detailed information.

I’m using the one that came with modx and it’s unchanged. I have other MODx sites on the same hosting and they are not showing this problem at all. The only difference is this particular site is running off a temporary address till the domain is transfered. It’s using http://ip-of-server/domain.com instead of just http://www.domain.com

Would that be what the issue is?

That’s it. I’m not a .htaccess guru but I suspect you need to customize the mod rewrite commands to take the temporary URL into account.

Ahh ok that’s fine. I was thinking it could only be that! Thanks, I’ll just wait till the transfer is done rather than edit things.
