Quickedit is not working on my (localhost) site, neither in Firefox nor Safari (I haven’t tried any IE versions). The Quickedit menu shows up OK, and I can use it to edit pages in a separate, un-styled window. But I can’t edit pages directly.

I’m logging in to the MODx manager as administrator. I’ve checked that the Quickedit module and plugin are both enabled. I’ve read dozens of posts on this forum, and tried changing the Doctype and removing the <base> tag, as suggested on a few posts, but to no avail.

I’m pretty new to MODx, so please forgive me if this exact problem has been dealt with already. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It doesn’t edit directly on the page, it opens a secondary window for editing. To edit sections of a page, you need to add # to the TV tags, such as [*#content*].

Thank you for the quick reply. I should have mentioned that I have got ’#’ in my [*#content*] TV. That’s why I’m surprised that it seems not to work. I’ve read quite a bit of documentation (including the very clear material on www.sottwell.com!), so I’d be very grateful if you can tell me what else I should check?

Check your CSS and Javascript. There may be some conflict; there should be a little "edit" button next to each block from the #-marked tag.

I’ve built a page with no CSS or Javascript (code below and screen shot attached). The QE toolbar seems to be there OK. If I click the "Edit content" button, the content opens in a new window. Am I right in thinking that I should be able to select the text and edit it by typing directly in the main browser window?

            Regards and many thanks

Can anyone shed any light on this problem? The only thing I can think of is to throw everything out and start again! I’d be really glad to have an alternative!
