How to use SMF Module (or any module for that matter)

Hi,
I downloaded the SMF module from Simple Machines and installed it ok.
I also downloaded the SMF bridge module and have it installed ok inside MODx. I can get to the SMF administration window from within MODx, so I think it’s all ok.

But, I’ve now spent another 3 hours or so trying to figure out what to do with it from here. It seems that there are some places in the Wiki and general documentation that talk about how to make modules, but I can’t find a thing that talks about how to use them.

Is there any forum sticky, Wiki entry, or any general documentation that describes how to actually use a module from within MODx?

If not, can you please enumerate, in a 1,2,3 fashion, what steps need to be taken with this module, or modules in general?
(I obviously don’t have a clue, so please be explicit )

Well, once you’ve installed a module, you simply run it. You can either right-click on the module’s name in the list in the Manage Modules page, then choose Run from the context menu, or click the module name in the Modules menu in the top menu (You’ll need to refresh the page or the top frame when you first install the module for it to show in the top menu).

Ok, I know how to "run" it and get to the "Administration Center" and "Synchronize Users", but that doesn’t tell me how to USE the module to actually produce a working forum in a MODx page.

I realize that this this is obvious to the initiated, but from an outsiders perspective it’s not. Where is the documentation on use of modules? The SMF Module in particular?

SMF will not appear inside of a MODx document. You will need to link to your SMF start page. The MODx module only synchronizes users.

Is there any way to make a sites Forum page look the same as other pages? I was wondering what was "funny" about how the modxcms forum page looks, just doesn’t seem to properly fit the rest of the site.

Other CMS’s that I’ve had some experience with (Drupal, E107, CMS Made Simple) all can have forum pages that have an integrated look and feel.

If I’m wrong on my assessment can someone refer me to a MODx based site where the forum is properly integrated?

You’ll need to modify the SMF template to match that of the MODx template.

This cms does not use restrictive themes such as other ones like "drupal" do.

To make its looks integrate into the site you must make the templates your self that match the forum, or make a forum theme to match your templates.
