Strategy for handling internal links

In a previous version of ModX, I could link to a document ID which was great since occasionally I move documents around and this method follows the document. In the latest version that ability seems to have been dropped or moved somewhere else. So now I am hard-coding the links in and it is becoming a nightmare to manage. Surely there must be an easier way, no?

Use [~ID~] to create internal links. Put the document ID in place of ID so it would look like [~13~] to create a link to document 13.

Thanks but where do i enter this ID link? In the old version there used to be a drop-down menu. Do I put it in the Link URL field? Thanks

OK, you are talking about adding links in the RTE editor. You need to activate the link list option in the manager.

Go to the manager and ->Resources -> Manage resources -> Plug-ins -> TinyMCE and then click on the Cofiguration tab and look for the "Link List" and set it to enabled. This will bring back the pull down list of all the pages in the link page in the editor.

I hope this is what you are looking for.

You might also need to highlight the text you want to be the link text in order to make the link button (looks like a little chain link) in the RTE toolbar become live. The button will then pop up the link form where you can put the [~ID~].
