I’m carving out some time to transfer to modx for an existing site. Have a new css template I’ll be using. Am still trying to wrap my head around the best way to arrange my existing content to where it will be most useful for putting in different sections of the pages where I can include snippets of it. Don’t want to reinvent the wheel and waste time. Right now, my content is on static html web pages as articles and also a directory of lists that are in tables. What format do I need to put each in and how, in order to be most useful?
Haven’t seen clear examples for those with existing websites to move to modx. Does it need to be in a database format or xml files? Am confused about best method to use for an existing site with lots of existing pages.
For most of your static site you could use the import function.
Use File Manager to load your static pages to the assets/import/ folder.
Then click Tools=>Import HTML
It will give you copies of your old pages into MODx.
