Well I just installed ModX on my site and everything seems to be running smoothly but I can’t access the site configuration. When I try it throws me this error message:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected $, expecting ',' or ';' in /home/www/assaultreconclan.freehostia.com/manager/actions/mutate_settings.dynamic.php on line 616

I don’t know what the problem is, I’m using the latest version BTW.

    Any help will be appreciated.

        Sorry, must have missed that.
Well the server is running Linux (Debian GNU)
        Dual P4 XEON 2.8/1GB RAM
        2x160GB HDDs in RAID
        100 MBits conn. per server
        320 GBits data center conn.
        MySQL 4.1.11
It refuses to show me the PHP version.

My Browser is Firefox and I’m running Windows XP Home Edition 2002
Its the latest version, downloaded yesterday and I’ve not got any pages working as of yet because I haven’t got a main page set up.

        • Reports -> System info, third line down, "view" phpinfo(). That should give you all the details on your PHP installation.

This sounds like an incomplete or corrupted file upload, though.

I think you’ve got something there. Moments after posting I remembered a red warning message flashing up during the upload, I assumed it had fixed it. I must have forgotten as it was a freaking long upload, 2 hours...

            Linux hex12 2.6.20.4-SE #4 SMP Sat Mar 31 22:42:29 GMT 2007 i686
            ???

Edit: I’ve re-uploaded the file and lo and behold it works.
P.S: I thought your username was scottwell, when the avatar said Susan it really threw me off laugh.

            • No way an upload should take that long... odd!

              • Many years ago when I went to set up my very first Hotmail account, susano was already taken. So sottwell was born. By the time I took off on my own, it was already well established, so I just kept the name. Now I tend to write "sottwell" whenever a form wants my name, virtual or dead-tree!

Ryan, sometimes it takes me that long. I’ve got a really crappy DSL account with a severely throttled upload speed.

Hmm... I try and access the site and it sends me to a view of the folders. I’m sure I’m missing an index file or something essential.
Wait. It missed the index.php too.

                  • You need the index.php file for the /manager (backend) folder, and the main index.php for the root (front-end).
