Hi there
installed MODx after recommendation and install went (mostly) fine
- had a look round controls .. much ooh/ahhh ing
- got greedy and tried to see what image captcha would look like ( :’( stupidly, before setting up another user :’( )
- voila....no image.
- read forums and found phpmyadmin solution - sorted that
- backed up the current and re-copied the original files to the cache from the install files ... as post suggested

barely understanding this but only just ... damn my newb genes)
thought it should be solved but now i get warnings and no login screen
seems to be problem loading the template file from the media/style folders
(flagging lines 85, 86, +87 in the manager/includes/accesscontrol.inc.php file)
can anyone give me any advice
