    I’ve had a site running using MODx for over a year and it’s been great, but I just tried to access something and my browser crashed every time. Would this be related to the db rather than MODx? I’m not sure where to start toubleshooting: the browser dies and asks if I want it to reboot and I’ve replicated this numberous times. Some info:

    System details:
    Web Server:
    * PHP version 5.2.13
    * Apache version 2.2.15
    * Operating System Linux (no idea of the version)

    Database:
    * MySQL version 5.1.46-log
    * no tables over a meg

    MODx:
    * Version 1.0.3
    * Plugins: PHx

    Browser/Client:
    * Safari 4.0.5
    * Mac OS X

    The crash happens after I view one of the Ditto calls in one area of the website. It lets me view the results, but then when I click on menu link, the browser crashes. Not sure if it’s related, but some of the Ditto calls won’t display additional pages (there should be three pages of ten results) although the URL displays the correct demand.

    Not sure if this error message in the event log is related or not. It’s a bit empty:

    Error

    Event Id: 0 Source: Parser

    Date: 12-08-2011 02:10:31 User:

    « MODx Parse Error »
    MODx encountered the following error while attempting to parse the requested resource:
    « Failed to create the database connection! »

    Parser timing
    MySQL: 0.0000 s (0 Requests)
    PHP: 0.1357 s
    Total: 0.1357 s

    I had the same message 40 times for one date in July, then nothing for a few weeks, then about ten times for a date in August, then another two of the same last week.

    Any ideas?

      « Failed to create the database connection! »
      In my experience that points to an overloaded/badly configured MySQL service.
      I’d be asking the web host to look into it.
