    Hello,
I’m having speed problems using Modx, not only under the manager, but also the front side website, even if i’m not logged in.
i run 0.9.6 version, php 5.2.4, on a dedicated server where I host less than 10 website, with small traffic (less than 100 visitors / day, no videos or such things).
This problem happens only on 1 of my websites, the bigger one (around 3000 pages / with photos & videos, 2500 visitors per month ...) :
Using a sniffer, I noticed it takes 15 seconds for the php page to answer, and then it starts to load the images and page content. Even if I assume the average page weight is a bit heavy (150 - 200 ko including content), I don’t understand why it takes so long just for the HTML request to answer. I guess this time comes from the MODX API to render the page? So does it mean I have to many pages? Or is there another reason ?

    - Most of the snippet calls are cached
    - most of the ditto calls use the "display" parameter to avoid to much documents to be loaded
    - i use phpthumbs on TV images

Please can someone help me, or point me to some kind of optimization tutorial ? Does an upgrade to evolution can really speed up my site ?

    Thanks!

And I still give great thanks to all the modx team - i’ve been using it for years now and the more i use it, the more i love it !

      Hello,

Could you tell us a little more about your server configuration? How are you running php, what version of mysql, etc.

I would HIGHLY recommend you start by upgrading to 1.0.5, if you are worried about things breaking consider working with a Professional Partner to do the upgrades. The security fixes alone are reason enough, but there are also performance optimizations that should help some.

If you can tell us more about the snippets used and the site in question that will be of some help. We can make some suggestions based on that information.

3000 resources a lot for your snippets to loop through, especially if you have a lot of TVs too. You said most of your snippets are cached, but which ones are not cached? You want everything cached if possible.

          Hello,
I am running Php 5 and mySql 5.0.32.
After more tests, I found out it takes around 8 seconds for modX to show a blank page with no content, TV, snippet, or template. So I definitively think this comes from the number of pages, and not the content.

With a sniffer, I can see on a normal webpage request the index.php page will take 25 seconds to load, and then the images will take a few seconds.

I will upgrade the modX version but i doubt this will really change something.

Because this doesn't happen on my other modx sites, running on the very same webserver, I was wondering if there a way to use different virtual servers for my different sections of that website? How can I do that with Modx?
