I’m using modx Revolution and confused about the Resources tab and the behavior of Containers. Is possible to have a parent that is not a part of the directory structure of your site? My goal is more for organizational purposes of the resources in the modx manager not for the site organization. Any help?

I think people don’t know what you’re asking. This question: "Is possible to have a parent that is not a part of the directory structure of your site?" is hard to work out because the directory structure (on the server) has nothing to do with the Resource tree shown in the Manager, so it’s unrelated to containers in MODX.
I think your question is really about the menu for the site, but I’m not sure. Wayfinder, for example, creates the menu from the structure of the Resource tree. For the purposes of that menu structure, it doesn’t matter if something is a container. What does matter is whether or not it is a parent of child documents. In MODX Evolution, having children and being a parent are equivalent. In Revolution, they are not. You can hide any resource from menus and you can usually show its children in menus even if it is hidden, but neither has anything to do with container status.
It would help a lot if you could describe exactly what you’re trying to do.
