Best Open Source PHP CMS: MODx CMS

Guys,

I’m sure you’ve all read the announcement by Ryan. MODx has been nomiated TWICE in this year’s Packt Open Source Awards in two suicide categories. "Overall Open Source CMS Award Finalists" and "Best Open Source PHP CMS Finalists" along with such notable appilcations as Drupal, Wordpress and Joomla. This is simply nuts!

I hope everybody has voted and passed on the links to everyone you know. This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. It’s about time MODx got its due for being a heck of a CMS.

P.S- Can’t help it!

I’m eager to see the results of votes.

Being in the final is already awesome, but the real deal will probably arise with Revolution.

Just my 2 cents...

If you use MODx to build websites for people, please let them know about this nomination. Below is the text of an email I sent to my clients who use MODx. Feel free to use it as a template for a message to your own clients.

Hello!

You are probably receiving this message because you have a website that is built on top of the content management system known as MODx. Even though it took hundreds of thousands of hours to create MODx, you have been using it for FREE, because it does not cost anything!

Recently MODx has been nominated for two awards. Since you have been using this great product for free, I ask that you take a moment to give back to the MODx project by taking 10 seconds to cast a vote so that it may receive recognition as the best free content management system available today.

All you need to do is click the links below, type your name, email address, select MODx, and press "Submit Vote." Be sure to cast a vote on both of the pages below!

HEY mrhaw,

I like your sales pitch for MODx -> "Why MODx is the world’s best CMS - 1. You simply use your own code and decide how much you want MODx to be involved in it. 2. It’s Open Source".

Right on!

Thanks!

To nail it down, with Joomla you can do stuff easily, with MODx you can do it YOUR way!

I started out with Joomla and even bought a book, then I installed MODx... What’s different
with MODx, is that you decide how much you want to integrate the functionality of it into your
design and code. Not the other way around. This is the main reason why its easy to get nice
SEO with MODx. But to tell the truth, you will need to be a geek and not be afraid of learning
to adjust PHP and "get your hands dirty". But if you choose the red pill there is no turning back!
