I made the mistake of giving my client Super Admin access and he deleted the super admin account. Now there is no access to the templates or any of the super admin tabs. Is there a way to recover the account? Or is the site a lost cause, needing a rebuild? He only has the Site, Elements, Modules, and Reports tabs in MODx 1.0.2. Old, I know.
Thanks for your help.

You should be able to recover it as long as you can get to the DB in PhpMyAdmin. There’s a good chance that the admin Super User is still there, just blocked by an access permission or assigned the wrong Context Access policy.
Worst case, you can dump the database, do a fresh install of exactly the same version, and import all tables except the user tables.
I would think that you could create a user directly in the database (actually I am positive this is possible) - never done it my self, I have fixed forgotten passwords, and some messed up permissions once.

That’s a great idea. If you have (or create) another install of that version of MODX, you can just copy the admin Super user’s fields to create a new user who has Super User rights in the troubled site.
I will try that, thank you!

There are so many tables in the database, which table has the list of accounts? Example xxxx_table_name
Thank you for your help.

xxxx_users
where xxxx is the prefix (for all tables) you choose during setup - default: xxxx = modx
I didn’t have a modx_users table, but I had other variations of user:
modx_active_users
modx_manager_users
modx_user_attributes
modx_user_messages
modx_user_roles
modx_user_settings
modx_webgroup_access
modx_webgroup_names
modx_web_groups
modx_web_users
modx_web_user_attributes
modx_web_user_settings
When I looked in these tables, I couldn’t find the one account that is active in the system. Am I missing a table? Here are all the tables I have:
modx_active_users
modx_categories
modx_documentgroup_names
modx_document_groups
modx_event_log
modx_jot_content
modx_jot_subscriptions
modx_keyword_xref
modx_manager_log
modx_manager_users
modx_membergroup_access
modx_membergroup_names
modx_member_groups
modx_site_content
modx_site_content_metatags
modx_site_htmlsnippets
modx_site_keywords
modx_site_metatags
modx_site_modules
modx_site_module_access
modx_site_module_depobj
modx_site_plugins
modx_site_plugin_events
modx_site_snippets
modx_site_templates
modx_site_tmplvars
modx_site_tmplvar_access
modx_site_tmplvar_contentvalues
modx_site_tmplvar_templates
modx_system_eventnames
modx_system_settings
modx_user_attributes
modx_user_messages
modx_user_roles
modx_user_settings
modx_webgroup_access
modx_webgroup_names
modx_web_groups
modx_web_users
modx_web_user_attributes
modx_web_user_settings

I had forgotten that you are using evolution (I use revolution exclusively - so I should probably just retire quietly, but...)
- I just checked my local evo install and I found the password in the modx_manager_users table in fact that is all that is in this table (well apart from an id, and a name.
As I said I use revolution so I’m probably not the one to give more advice
Thanks for your help. Can anyone else assist?
