    Hello,
I have several websites, coded in php + mySQL, no CMS system used.

Now I want to integrate e.g. MODX only on specific pages (e.g. the home page or /root/subfolder/page1.php). This cms should deliver only the contents for these pages not e.g. page header and footer.

First I thought it would be very easy to use WordPress. But integrating WP on several pages was not as easy as I thought. Now I am searching for an easier solution.

So my question ist: would MODX a besser solution for my development plan?

    Thanks a lot.

I don’t think so. MODX routes all page requests through its index.php file and will load its own template and content for every page requested. Doing it the other way around is not too bad, where MODX delivers most pages in its normal way and a few pages are rendered from their original HTML, but I can’t think of any easy way to do what you want. I think it would be easier to convert the whole site to MODX.

TBH, it’s hard to imagine why you’d want to install a full-fledged CMS just to deliver a few pages. If it’s for ease of page editing, you might just try integrating an editor like Aloha or TinyMCE into your existing site.

I think most CMSs will make what you want to do fairly difficult. You might also look at DreamWeaver. Maybe others will have a better suggestion.

        sorry, I skipped some details...

My aim is to give one or more persons ("user management") the ability to create articles -- like a blogging system -- on specific pages of my sites, e.g. a page with news.

... and it would be very smooth, if they could use the Windows Live Writer instead of an online editor like TinyMCE. At least this is my dream wink

        Thanks!

I’m not familiar with Windows Live Writer, but you might be able to integrate it with the FireFox "It’s All Text" plugin.

MODX has several tools for blogging (e.g., getResources and Quip).

Again, you might be happier if you moved the whole site into MODX. Just my $.02. wink
