Hi,
I was able to make a beautiful blog site with MODx.
However, I realized that I had still to master MODx in order to really rival my WordPress site.
[For example the security issue - akismet like abilities, etc.]
So I want to take it offline or better prevent search engine robots. This is because I want to continue blogging on the parallel WordPress site and not be penalized for double posting.
Is there a way to do this? Thanks.
- Take down the whole site:
Tools -> Configuration -> Site Status: Offline
Tools -> Configuration -> Site unavailable message: Your message
Now you can work with the blog being logged into the manager all hidden from public.
(if you see some error front-end: Disable the plugins!)
- Take down only the blog:
Set the blog documents un-published and if you have a lot of blog stuff in the
template, just make a copy of it and have the published docs use the new template
(this way you don’t have to add it back later.)
Or in your published docs use:
<meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow" />
<meta name="googlebot" content="noindex, nofollow, noarchive, nosnippet" />
Wow! That was fast and Thorough!
Many thanks, mrhaw you are the greatest!!!
I’m just a geeek!
/Tip! Doc Manager Module (Other Properties) let you set multiple docs
un-published in a click (Specify a Range of Document IDs)!
And there is this regarding WP:
