Understated in what way ?
I have done quite a bit of MODx evangelism over the last 4 years but I think MODx has reached a turning point at the moment :
- Evolution is a mature, well polished product now, it has reached a sort of "plateau" if you will. Evangelism is probably tuned down a bit on this front.
- Revolution is a fairly new product, with a *very* modern codebase which at the moment most of us old timers are getting to know and get accustomed to. Revo evangelism should IMHO first target developpers and coders, because we need them to jump in and contribute to testing, addon development. We’ll most definitely get attention from early adopter types - Revolution being one of a kind - somewhere in between frameworks like CakePHP, CodeIgniter, Django... and highly customizable CMS like Drupal, SilverStripe and the likes. Where does that leave Revolution ? Well, I think it’s the next step really for Content Management : provide the quick deployment of essential CMS features (you don’t have to build a system from scratch) while retaining a greater potential for high level of customization and integration.
I for one think the main focus of MODx evangelism shoud be Revolution, which means that for a while MODx evangelism will target developpers (Revo Documentation efforts are the first step to do that). Gaining momentum and reaching a critical mass fast enough is key, like a rocket needs to defy gravity at take-off with an additional impulse. Only when we reach that momentum we can start doing evangelism towards end users and play the "get the numbers" game although it has never been a number game for us, rather a "gather talents" game

Of course I am oversimplifying things, there will be early adopters among designers and end users too, and their role will be important too. But the key of the game at this stage is developpers (it’s my opinion here and might not reflect the team or general opinion).
To conclude, I can understand how you might feel like MODx evangelism is understated but I think the factors above explain why it’s a bit tuned down right now.
