I’m excited to say I’m in the process of reviewing certain CMS pacakges to be used in a corporate web site and ModX is one of the 3 I’ve chosen, plus one allready used in house. My question is which version should I use to review? Obviously my gut and experience says to go with Evolution as a stable version but depending on what my timing (firm date is unknown but this within a couple of months is a good bet) VS the expected release date of Revolution, it may make sense to review it instead (or as well?).
So...
Is there knowledge of when Revolution will become a stable version?
What’s the upgrade like from Evolution to Revolution?
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Craig

I’d go with your gut and evaluate Evolution. We do not have a definitive release timeline for the stable version of Revolution at this time and the upgrade will be more of a migration due to the great number of changes you will want to take advantage of in Revolution. There are just a lot more tutorials, documentation, and Extras available for Evolution at this time. But once you review Evolution, feel free to review Revolution as well, especially if there are features specific to Revolution you discover would be beneficial to your project requirements (or if you’re just curious).
Jason,
Thanks for you quick reply. Your answer is what I was expecting but wanted to ask non-the-less. I’ll try and get a chance to look at Revolution, but will mostly be after hours at home for my own curiosity. I’ll need a much more stable environment when using this at work as you would expect.
