    Hello Folks,

    I am following this tutorial, great resource for non programmers

    http://codingpad.maryspad.com/2011/04/11/modx-revolution-for-complete-beginners-part-10-using-getresources-to-aggregate-content/

    which works but my template design is not allowing me to use either of below and throwing off my design. I do not want to use summary [[+introtext]] since that would need me to create summary for each article.

    [[+content:ellipsis=`50`]]

    or

    [[+content:limit=`50`]]

    Is there any other method to get small truncated output from article content.

    Thnx

        Hi,

        Thanks for continued support and tutorial. Process works as tutorial indicated, Problem is with my template design and using firebug was able to find that is with use of [[+content:ellipsis=`50`]]. This throws away my template design. What I am trying to find is there any other process to pull few lines of content of article for blog page without using [[+content:ellipsis=`50`]].

        I use following in Blog Resource Document

        [[!getResources? &showHidden=`1` &tpl=`articleTpl` &limit=`10` &includeContent=`1` &includeTVs=`1` &processTVs=`1`]]

        I also have following in articletpl modified per my template.

        <div id="content-right">
        <div class="maincontent">
        <div class="blog-posted"><!-- blog post 1 -->
        <div class="left-head">
        <h3><a HREF="[[~[[+id]]]]">[[*pagetitle]]</a></h3>
        <div class="post-info">
        Posted in: <a href="#">Category 1</a>, <a href="#">Category 2</a> by <a href="#">Admin</a> &nbsp; | &nbsp; <a href="#">2 Comments</a>
        </div>
        </div>
        <div class="right-head">
        <div class="date">[[*publishedon:strtotime:date=`%d`]]</div>
        <div class="month">[[*publishedon:strtotime:date=`%b`]]</div>
        </div>
        </div>
        <div class="blog-post">

        <a HREF="[[*id]]"> <img SRC="[[+tv.article_image]]" title="[[+tv.article_image_title]]" alt="" class="imgleft" /> </a>

        [[+content:ellipsis=`50`]]

        <a HREF="[[~[[*id]]]]"><img SRC="assets/templates/7in1/images/read-more.gif" alt="" /></a>

        </div>
        </div>
        </div>
        </div>

          just use the introtext-field and put

          [[+introtext]]

          into your chunk.

            When you say "This throws away my template design." what exactly do you mean? Are you getting the desired output in terms of content but your styling gets messed up or are you not getting the desired content outputted?

              I am getting the result as per the tutorial, just the result of content moves my design and i have tried updating stylesheet that also does not work for me.

              What I am asking is there any other method to get few line of article content without using (ellipsis or limit function) [[+content:ellipsis=`50`]] or [[+introtex]].

              Much appreciated for all the help.

              Thnx

                Not that I know of. Do you get the same result with [[+introtext]]? Definitely sounds like a styling or layout problem to me, and changing how you pull the content in will not resolve it.

                  I also believe it is styling issue, will work on it. But I have tested the [[+introtext]] vs. [[+content:ellipsis]]. Suprisingly introtext does not throw the design off whereas the other does.

                  Many thanks for your support and tutorials
