...but rather that there’s stuff Evo can’t do tongue

I’m terribly sorry. This is entirely incorrect. It should read: "...but rather there’s stuff I can’t do in Evo tongue"

Evo is a fantastic platform - it’s what I fell in love with and the reason why I started using MODX. Only for me, I "adopted" Revo as soon as it came out, and have since gotten so used to it’s features that I can’t go back.

This is neither a good thing nor bad thing, it’s just what works for me. Please don’t anyone take my comments as meaning Revo is "better" than Evo or vice versa.

I’ll wait for speedier manager and robust front-end editing solution.
Have you tried NewsPublisher and FrontPage (there’s one more the name of which I can’t think of)?

I have tried them, but I’m still waiting them to evolve some more. The third is the one by Digital Butter (in planning/development stage still, I think).

There’s upFront which has seen an alpha release a while back that they are trying to finish in the coming months for a project they are running, so expect more on that soon.

There’s also AlohaX which hasn’t been added to the repo yet but can be downloaded from the big "Downloads" button here: https://github.com/digitalbutter/AlohaX, with some more info and a screencast here: http://alohax.butter.com.hk/ There’s a couple of things to solve with that, but I must say it works amazingly well already and offers some good features that are worth having (such as drag & dropping images into the editing field - only available for Firefox and needs some fixes).

As for the whole Evo vs Revo discussion, the car analogy of Susan subscribes it pretty well and, even though I am a major fan of Revo, I don’t see Evo support being dropped completely anytime soon.

Bob has already mentioned a few of the usability touches added: quick update and clearing cache without leaving what you’re doing. But there’s also one-click install (and update) of addon packages (though one could argue that Evo came with them pre-packaged, setting up or updating addons after installation is a very manual task in Evo), a better thought out api and a really granular permissions and settings system.

I totally recognize what Sepiariver is saying - when using Evolution again I notice a huge efficiency drop and simply cannot do what I can do with Revo in a certain time frame.

Just a small message about the back-end speed of Revo: you might want to wait 2.2.x branch, since it seems there’s a lot of speed improvements (especially on-the-fly JS/CSS minification).
I think that’ll just be in the next release (it’s been committed to Github already) - which is more likely 2.1.2 wink
