Getting the parent id dynamically

I am using the following Wayfinder call-

[[!Wayfinder? startId=`17` &level=`0` &outerTpl=`MenuOuter` &rowTpl=`MenuRow` &firstClass=`` &lastClass =`` ]]

Is it possible to dynamically set startId to the Id of a parent?

I would think you could just pass the field [[*parent]] to the snippet, so:



Does that not work? I haven’t tested it, but I would think the parser would evaluate [[*parent]] first and then pass it to the snippet.
