Hello,
after creating twenty (or so) sites with MODx, I’m thinking of creating a web directory (resp. transferring an existing one first) with MODx. Before starting from scratch I just want to ask if there are examples or experiences out there, and hints to useful snippets or modules for this purpose. I’m aware of PhpMyEdit as a probably important addition (there’s a tutorial to include it as plugin to MODx out somewhere - it works great) that makes it easy to manage table data.
I’m thinking of a directory with longer descriptions of linked sites, maybe with comment and rating functions. Also sortig possibility for the user, for instance sorting results by rating, by date added, by alphabet, may be PageRank ... and a Google Map.
And would it be a good idea o do this project in Revoltion? Big advantages vs. Evolution for administration and users?
Thanks very much for any ideas to that!

I’m currently building a campsite directory with modx and ( nearly ) everything has been possible by using 4 templates and a few TV’s. I also have a star rating system ( Anything rating I think ) and am using Jot for the commenting system.
Also using a Modx RSS plugin to pull the latest added sites to the front page of my site.
The site isn’t live yet but if you want to see the the rating, listing system I can give you access to it.
It’s all really down to what you require but I will say Modx can do everything, you just need to think about how your going to do it first to reduce the work you have to do.
