I’m trying to run setup for modx-2.0.8 and I am getting the following error on my shared Linux host:

FATAL ERROR: MODx Setup cannot continue.

MODx requires the PDO extension when native PDO is being used and it does not appear to be loaded.

Anyone else have the same problem?

I had the same error message with my shared hosting. As I understand it you need the PDO module loaded for php and it’s not something you’ll be able to do yourself.

I "fixed" it by raising a support ticket with my shared hosting supplier, www.eukhost.com. They responded very quickly and enabled the module for me.

According to my webhost, PDO is installed and enabled. If you will visit http://www.gongcha.ph/info.php, notice:

        ’--enable-pdo=shared’ ’--with-pdo-sqlite=shared’ ’--with-pdo-mysql=shared’ ’--with-pdo-pgsql=shared’ ’--enable-sysvshm’ ’--enable-sysvsem’ ’--enable-shmop’ ’--with-kerberos’ ’--enable-suhosin’ ’--with-litespeed’ ’--with-pdo-extension=shared’

        Yet my setup fails

        http://www.gongcha.ph/setup/

        Gets:

FATAL ERROR: MODx Setup cannot continue.

MODx requires the PDO extension when native PDO is being used and it does not appear to be loaded.

Whilst PDO might be enabled in the configure command, from your php listing it doesn’t appear to be loading the PDO drivers.

Much further down the page on the configuration between pcre and pgsql, I’d expect an entry for PDO and the pdo_mysql driver. Hopefully attached is the screenshot from my phpinfo().

Again I think it’s something that your hosting supplier will need to sort out for you, so I’d raise a ticket with them.

          Regards
