    Hi,

I have built a few simple sites with MODx but now I’m trying to build a simple membership site. I can make profile data entry forms, and templates with corresponding TVs to display a profile. But what I don’t know is how to process the form and how to call the profile data from search results or a list of members into a template to create a page.

I have been dabbling with the Formit and Login extras and can get a user registered (with no other info) and have spent days trawling through the Wiki and forums and can’t find clear info on this, in fact I’m probably more confused now than before. Can anyone offer any pointers as to where to start with this? (Maybe "hooks", but can’t find out how to create one?)

Still trying to get my head around MODx - zaphodx huh

That is a bunch of questions rolled into one rambling one!

You probably need to be thinking of custom php code to process your form data in the ’form of’ (can’t resist a pun) snippets which can be ’fired by hooks’ from formit.

the addon Peoples http://rtfm.modx.com/display/ADDON/Peoples may help with the display of members - I have not used it yet so I am not sure of its capabilities - neither am I sure of what you are trying to do.

Hope this points you in a useful direction

Thanks whistlemaker, and sorry for the long rambling multiple question, you are right and maybe I should post each bit separately.

Will look into "Peoples", and into snippets fired by hooks, which will probably lead to more questions but that is the way with these things smiley

        Cheers - zaphodx

Thanks again whistlemaker, looks like a combination of the "Login" and "Peoples" extras (and a bit of customisation will) do most of what I want.

          Cheers - Zaphodx smiley
