Hi, I am currently getting the following warning in the manager:
One or more configuration details didn’t check out OK:
Configuration warning: ’GD and/or Zip PHP extensions not found’
What does this mean?
MODx needs the GD and Zip extension enabled for PHP. While MODx will work without them, you will not be able to take full advantage of the built-in File Manager, Image Editor or Captcha for logins.
My server has GD extensions. I’m wondering about a couple of things....
1. What does Zip do that I am missing out on?
2. How can I get rid of this warning without putting Zip on the server?
Separately, if I were to follow the (mt) kb article for installing PECL extensions, where would I get a config file for zip?

Thanks!

No, the zip extensions are only useful in the Manager’s File Manager if you want to unzip an archive from there (there may be third-party addons that require it as well). The GD extensions are required if you’re using TinyMCE’s browser utility, but usually that’s included and the message is referring to the zip extension.
There are a couple of ways to get rid of the message if you can’t add the zip extentions to your PHP installation; you can edit the Welcome page to remove that tab, or there are plugins for removing that particular error message (this whole thread may be useful to you).
