Have a look at this too: http://css-tricks.com/border-radius-on-images/
Don’t looks like round corners in FF 3.5.
Let me clarify my statement. CSS3 border-radius works directly on images in the following browsers:

    FireFox 4
    Internet Explorer 9
    Chrome 11
    Safari 5

You can use CSS3PIE for IE6-8. Opera is still sorting things out. But in your case... yeah, you’re better off using phpThumb.
Of course I can use new technologies and say something like "This site is only supported by updated browsers" but this restricts will mean that nearly 80% of visitors will see square corners.

So there are no such mechanism that will allow to rework standart functions or add functionality to them? All that I need is to run a snippet-function with an adress of the picture.

Try using this filter with phpThumb: http://phpthumb.sourceforge.net/demo/demo/phpThumb.demo.demo.php#x25

PhpThumb is used with Evo and Revo, so definitely worth checking out.

You don’t call it when uploading, you call it when displaying the image on the front end. It creates a new version of the file with filters applied to it. That’s better in my opinion as you still keep the original unmodified file.

Revo ships with phpThumb - just install the phpThumbOf package and then you can use it in the same way as an output modifier.
