I have been upgrading all of my clients to the Evo 1.0 release and on a few of the sites they have encountered some problems while editing. Specifically on some pages when they edit the page and then click save, instead of showing the normal page information (if in the backend) or the proper page edits (if on the front end) it loads a preview of the page within the frame where the editor was. The real problem is that when it shows that preview it has not saved the actual edits. On some pages this happens even if I just go into a page, don’t make any edits, and hit save. Usually though it happens when they cut and paste text into the page. I have the "paste word" button disabled so they are only able to paste plain text.
On some pages I have noticed in the html view that some leftover code from styling or previous edits was causing the problem. Now though I can’t figure it out as it is simply text on the pages that I am having trouble with. Obviously this is frustrating for the client as they can’t make the necessary changes unless they delete all the text and retype EVERYTHING from the page back into the TinyMCE editor manually (no pasting.)
I have checked the manager permissions and I know that isn’t the problem. I searched the forum but couldn’t find a similar situation. Has anyone else experienced the problem? Does anyone know how to temporarily or permanently fix this issue?
Any help for this relative fledgling modx user would be greatly and most humbly appreciated.
OK with the limited knowledge I have of errors and html I don’t think that is the problem. It could be, I just don’t think it is. My difference here is that I’m running Firefox, not IE. Also, I am now getting the problem (maybe I had it before but just didn’t notice it) in some chunks and snippets. In particular I am trying to make a change to the Breadcrumbs snippet to change the some of the options that come with it. When I hit "Save" it loads the homepage in the iframe instead of saving the changes. Interestingly I tried to just go into the Breadcrumbs snippet, didn’t make any changes, and hit "save" and this still happened.
This is not happening on every snippet or chunk or document, only certain ones and I really can’t pinpoint why. Of note now though is that I tested this on a site that I am running modx .9.6.3 and this still happened, so it’s not just Evo1.0. So this leads me to believe it may be because I have moved my site’s to a new VPS host account. This new VPS cleared up some problems I was having with a couple of my sites that were on shared hosting. But now I have this issue.
Does anyone have any idea where I should be looking or what on my new host may be causing this problem? My host is with Liquid Web and meets all of the requirements to run Modx but maybe there is something I should be changing. I have attached the before and after screenshots I get when I hit "Save."
