    Firstly, hey!
I’ve only recently started using MODx and I’m quite liking it so far.

I have one question I’ve not been able to find an answer on.

When I create a a new ’document’ is it possible to have just the ’alias’ and no suffix e.g. ’.html’

I don’t currently have a suffix set in the friendly urls section so was wondering how to remove it?
    e.g. so that:
    ’domain.com/contact/us.html’
    becomes:
    ’domain.com/contact/us’

    Thanks for looking.

Also while I’m here, is a comment blog possible with modx? and could someone point me in the right direction to get started using this resource please?

    Thanks.

No suffix is possible. It is a setting under friendly URLs.

      For Evo:
Tools > Configuration > Friendly URLs > Friendly URL Suffix > make it blank (and if you want the domain to be domain.com/folder/folder2/us then turn on ’Use Friendly URL Alias Path’).

For Revo I’m not sure the best way to go about this. You should check out this thread:

And yes, a blog with comments is possible with MODX. What version are you using?

        Thanks for the fast reply.
FYI I’m using Revo, I’ll be sure to post back my results.

        Thanks.

If you would rather keep your SEF URL settings as they are to allow for both the way it works by default and the no suffix you are asking for try this. I have done this for several installations and it works fine.

Add a new content type in the db duplicating the HTML content type but leve the extension field empty and give it a name like "NoExt". You cannot add this through the manager because an extension value is required. However you can add this directly into the db table and it will work fine.

This will then allow all the existing SEF logic to work as it’s just appending a suffix of an empty string.

If you plan to use this option more times then not then you can set this content type as the default, if not then you will want to remember to change your content type to NoExt on the resource docs you desire to have no ext on.

            Not having much luck.

With regards to adding a db field, I’m quite a novice at it, but I’m pretty comfortable editing it once I know where I am.
So just wondering if you could tell me where i’d add that to, which table etc. thanks
