how to configure phpmyadmin

dear all:

when I try to install modx to my local computer after I install xampp. in the set up page, modx said that I have to create databse manually. how to do that?

Have you tried navigating in your browser to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/?

I just wonder in order to install modx for testing in my local computer, do I really need to create a database and tables?

Well, MODX needs a database, it doesn’t have to be on your local computer, just visible on the network you are on, some people have a central db server that they use for all db work, others install a full LAMP stack on each machine they are using, otherrs still a mixture of both, depends on your setup.
