Hi there, having real difficulty figuring the best way to do this.
I’m building a site for a restaurant and they have a menu section with 4 different menus. Lunch, A La Carte, High Tea & Lunch For Less. They are all down my left hand side bar when you click them the menu appears. Each menu has sections of Starters, Mains, Desserts etc. I was thinking of doing it with getResources but there is going to be folders within folders and it will get quite complicated for the client... Also thought of just having richtext boxes underneath the headers but the html contains spans for the prices which could quite easily get messed up.
Is there any way to have the client add multiple list items that can be repeated or deleted with title of food and price in designated parts of my template ie:
<li><span>£5.50</span>Soup of the day</li> - REPEATABLE
Thanks in advance, hope this makes sense.
I think this depends on many food dishes need to be added to the menu.
I did an extensive site for a group of restaurants that had lunch, dinner and happy hour menus. The owner wanted to use a PDF system but I talked him out of it.
We discussed using Ditto (the site runs on Evo) with container documents etc, but in the end I used three pages (one for each menu) with a ton of CSS. I added three CSS classes as TinyMCE options: dishCategory, dishName and dishDescription. The owner has his staff paste in a prepared basic text document that I set up. Once this is in TinyMCE the staff then highlights each row of text and chooses one of the three dish class options. So far this has worked very well for them.
I think some viewers dislike having to load a PDF so having a styled HTML file is a nice option. This works on all browsers and handheld devices. We Also keep three unpublished menu pages in the MODx manager as a guide they can use in case the staff person gets lost during the editing process. We also have TVs for adding styled (floated) images into the menu pages.
Actually that lulti items looks perfect, I was looking at the multi items grid tv before, which was over kill for this as essentially i just need two fields.
Thanks for the link, much appreciated
