Is it possible to define more complex dropdowns for custom system settings?

I was needing to create a few custom system settings for a plugin I’m writing, but I’d prefer to have the ability to specify a drop down with my own options defined. Is that possible? Or maybe the best approach is to write a CMP to front-end the settings I need to store.

I assume that you have a reason not to use the plugin’s default properties or a property set.

You can create system settings during the install if you’re using a transport package (there’s an example in the MyComponent package: http://bobsguides.com/mycomponent-tutorial.html).

I think you could use a TV with FormIt to set them if you want to do it in the front end.

You’ve peaked my interest here. Of course: a plugin’s property set would be a better place to do this (I guess my mind is still stuck in Evo). I just have to figure out how to read the properties from the plugin. AND... can properties be shared between Snippets and Plugins?

Default properties can’t be shared but a property set can.

Create the set on the Properties tab of one element.

Attach it to the other element in Tools->Property sets.

For the snippet, specify it in the tag:



For the plugin, you do that on the Create/Edit Plugin panel -- Settings tab IIRC.
