I am having problems setting up a user in a group that can access the files and folders in the file tab.
my admin account in the administrator group can login and see all the files and folders without a problem but if I add a new user in a new group no mater how I try and set it up I can’t get the files and folders to display for that new user.
If I add the new user to the Administrator group with the same privilidges as the admin user, that is the only time I can get the user to see the files and folders.
Unfortunately that is no good as what I need is a semi admin user that can see most of what the admin can but with some restrictions.
I am testing using the administrator access policy so the user should have access to the file manager I just can’t figure out whys it happening.
I get the files folder with a grey arrow and when you click on the arrow the rotating animation shows but no files or folders appear.
If I click on the modx browser button when the window pops up I can see the files in the root but no folders, am i looking at some strange sort of permissions error?
any help much appreciated.
I found the best way to do this is to create a new Access Policy based on the Administrator template with full privileges.
Then assign your ’semi admin’ user to this group. At this stage he will have full admin rights.
Then go through the new policy and remove those permissions you don’t want the ’semi admin’ user to have.
I would leave all the permissions beginning with file_ (such as file_tree, file_manager) checked.
Hi,
thanks ever so much for the reply.
I had tried doing exactley as you suggest but it just isn’t working.
I create an exact copy of the administrator policy with all the same privilidges and just left it named administrator duplicate.
If I assign my semi admin to the administrator group with the administrator duplicate access policy I still can’t get to the files.
The only way I can get that user to see the files is by asigning the semi admin user to a super user role who has full administrator privilidges.
For some reason assigning the semi admin user to to my semi admin role which has the administrator duplicate access policy just doesn’t work even though it sounds as though it should.
It almost feels like a file permissions issue - what can be happening, am I doing something wrong or do I have a problem somewhere?
thanks
J
