Optgroups in dropdown TVs?

This one might be a stretch, but...in Evo, has anyone figured out a way to use optgroups in dropdown menu template variables?

Great question. I think what you'd need to do is to define your own custom input type. There is a page in the manager here:

But the example needs some elaboration.
