    Hi

I have setup a few ModX sites and have never come across this problem before and must say, am rather stuck how to fix.

Basically I cannot login to Manager using IE, Firefox or Safari. I could login to Manager fine before, however since yesterday I couldn’t.

I am thinking that when I set the site up, the URL for which it is currently using (and live) was different. It was using an IP address before and is now using a proper domain name. Since I changed the Name Servers for the domain to point to the new hosting server, I have been unable to login. So I’m thinking it’s either something to do with Modx using a URL or cookies?! I’ve looked around Google and forums and have been unsuccessful in finding a solution.

I am using Revolution 2.0.8-pl, hosted on a Linux server running cPanel.

    HEEEEEEEELP?!

Have you checked in you config (core/config/config.inc.php) to see if there are any vars pointing to the old IP?

Haven’t moved a Revolution install between servers/domains yet but I can see reference to the domain name in there so perhaps that’s breaking it? Certainly sounds like a config error somewhere.

Edit: If that’s not the case, and errors showing up in your error log?

        1. Never mind the previous URL. I suggest you use FF, and go to "yoursite.com/manager".

        2. Go to the URL, and click "forget password" and take it from there.

        3. Alternatively, manager passwords can be reset easily, from the CPanel, and you can even DIYS. View http://bobsguides.com/modx-newbie-faq.html and view his password related FAQ (the 3rd from the bottom).

        4. If worst comes to worst, you can call the hosting company. They can/will reset the password for you.
          Best regards,
          Mike

          Hi Dan

Thank you, that solved the problem.

The URL had been hardcoded into that file, once I changed it to the correct address it worked fine.

Many thanks for your help.....life saver!

rogit - always helps to run the installer again in update mode when you move to a new server. That’ll update all the paths for you.
