moving to new server

Getting ready to build another Modx site, but before I begin, I want to make sure I can easily move sites to different locations for deployment, upgrade and BU purposes. I really have a pretty hard time with this. Pretty sure it should be much easier than I am making it. FIrst things first:
Web Server: shared Linux on Apache

* PHP version 5
* Apache

* MySQL version 5.1.54
MODx:
* Version 2.0.6
* plugins FOrmit wayfinder tinyMCE
Browser/Client:

* Browser name and version Firefox 3.6.16
* Operating System and version Mac OSX

YES PDO is enabled via php.ini file in the root folder
I followed this documentation:

I get a funky login window that keeps reloading when it should be allowing me in to the manager
On other attempts, I get a bad move with wayfinder class missing or maybe template variables are jumbled.

Sometimes, paths are screwed up when trying to preview pages. Have tried moving to another remote server, or moving to my MAMP. Neither is met with success after countless tries.

If so the paths are wrong. You are referencing
assets/designImages/

Which will look in:
/lent45/assets/designImages

When the actual folder is:
/assets/designImages/
Put a forward slash before assets to correct front end.

The other url looks fine, so I guess u got sorted?

Sorry if I seem a little thick. Where would I go to correct those paths? I tried it in the /core/config.inc with no success. Also, how might I avoid getting sorted? Is that happening when I Export/Import mySQL?

For the front end the path would just be set in your templates.
MODx will generate a tag called site_url based on the install domain, but I have found this can be incorrect.
If you MODx is in the root of your domain, using:
/assets/ - will work.
The / takes the url from the root, the root being http://www.mysite.com
If u were in a sub-folder, use:
/subfolder/assets/blahblah
