was approached to build an online magazine and though I know wordpress is the platform for blogging and drupal is renowned for being able to handle thousands of pages, how big a site can modx handle? I know there are limitations depending on the hosting solutions, but if lets say there are no storage limitations, how many resources can modx handle? as for blogging, opengeek’s extras are quite sufficient, plus modx’s elegance in handling templates which allow so much flexibility make me want to use modx above all others.
Right now there won’t be much to the site, but as it grows, older resources want to be kept by the site’s owners not only for SEO but as reference material for visitors. They rather not put an expiration date on pages.
Any thoughts? tips?

Revo can handle unlimited resources without front-end performance degradation; the only problem would be the manager’s Tree structure gets unwieldy. But a careful archive policy using custom tables would take care of that, or creating a custom listing of resources, which is what Revo’s use of Smarty and extJs for the Manager is all about.
While Evo’s caching system makes for a practical limit of ~ 5,000 resources before performance degradation is noticeable, and the Tree of course gets unwieldy, there is a patch to help avoid the caching problem, and again an archive policy using custom tables to store archived resources would solve the problem.
So whichever version of MODx you choose, there are several ways to deal with a large number of resources.
Hello,
I’m very interested in custom tables approach for a portfolio/blog website, but I can’t find any clear information about that, please have you some suggestions.. links?
Thanks
