I have successfully set up a user group and content access group to block certain resources from being viewable in the front end. However, those resources do not show up in menus generated by Wayfinder when a qualified user is not signed in. I would like to figure out if it is possible to allow resources to be listed by Wayfinder and other snippets, but to now allow the resources to be accessed when a link to them is clicked. I’m probably dreaming here.... but it’s fun to dream. I’m imagining that certain varibles of a resource (such as its ID and title) could be made publicly accessible, while the rest of it is protected.
Revo 2.0.8-pl
What Version of Modx?
You can put resources in resource groups, but if the resources groups are not connected to user groups, the resources are not protected and will show up in all menus.
To keep not-logged-in users from viewing them, a snippet at the top of the page can check the users’ login status, and if necessary, user group membership, and forward them to some other page if they don’t qualify to see the resource.

If you’re in Revolution, you might have to grant the "Load only" access policy to the Anonymous group for your resource group.
From
the expert:
Create a new Resource Group Access ACL entry for the Anonymous User Group with the Resource Group of the protected resources, a Context of "web," a Role of "Member" and an Access Policy of "Load Only." Do this for each protected Resource Group

That assumes that the resource group is protected in the web context by connecting it to a user group. In the case I’m suggesting, it wouldn’t need to be because the snippet would protect it.
Normally, you’d use the method you suggest, but the OP wants the resources to show in menus so they need to be unprotected.

No need to apologize.
I’m easily confused, so it’s nice to have people looking at my posts with a critical eye.
