I am wanting to install MODx on my client’s server, but I am wanting to install MODx on a sub domain first, then move it once I have completd the setup of MODx (templates, modules, etc). So I am wondering if that is possible or will I run into problems? Thanks in advance.

I just had to do this as I started off on powweb, and then decided I couldn’t stand them moved to dreamhost, and now prolly moving it to one of my VPS luckily after powweb I set my site up locally with XAMPP this allows your modx to become portable.

I believe it was only two days ago I asked a question along these lines only it was moving from one host to another. If you are going to be moving your site around then I suggest you take the route I did.

http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Moving_Site_To_Another_Location This was the info shared with me that allowed me to perform my desired task, now I also go ahead and keep it on my one local box and make changes to that as it will allow me to move to the VPS with no issues if necessary. If there is other available information I hope someone post it as I can only share what I have learned from others. Hope this helps!
