I’m trying to do an upgrade installation after moving to a remote server from local. Everything in the setup is green but I get the Database Connection Failed error.

I figure I must be putting something in wrong. One thing I noticed looking at my local install is that the database name has backticks surrounding it AND single quotes. Is this the way I should do it for the remote? Do I do it for all the fields?

Well I fixed that problem when I contacted my host. Apparently I had to assign rights to the user I had set. Installation went through fine.

Now though when I try to go to my manager, it redirects me to the homepage. I’m guessing it has something to do with friendly URL’s, so I commented those lines out in the .htaccess file and get a 500 error instead.

This is the error log on my server:
[Tue Mar 29 15:06:45 2011] [error] [client 75.17.24.122] File does not exist: /home/smartavi/public_html/404.shtml
[Tue Mar 29 15:06:45 2011] [error] [client 75.17.24.122] File does not exist: /home/smartavi/public_html/favicon.ico
[Tue Mar 29 15:06:45 2011] [error] [client 75.17.24.122] File does not exist: /home/smartavi/public_html/500.shtml
[Tue Mar 29 15:06:45 2011] [error] [client 75.17.24.122] SoftException in Application.cpp:256: File "/home/smartavi/public_html/manager/index.php" is writeable by group

I can understand that those files are missing, though I don’t have them in that directory in my local installation either so I’m not sure what its trying to grab. What I don’t understand is the SoftException and manager/index.php error
