Dumb question... but cant find the answer anywhere - HOW TO INSTAL EXTRAS!!

Hi Guys,

I know it may sound like a dumb question but I cannot find anywhere a tut’ about how to install and use an extra.

I wanted to choose something simple such as:

http://modxcms.com/extras/package/54

but all it says is: Install via Package Management.

I assume that you upload all the files bundled in the .zip to the snippets folder?

Or is it through the Create/edit Snippet.. but in the above case the package contains multiple files and classes...

Please help or point me to the right link ...

If there’s instruction Install via Package Management, it means it’s extras for revo.
So if you’re using revo, there are 2 ways to install package.

1. Via Revo Manager, Point to System->Package Management anc click Download Extras button in the top of packages grid.
2. Download the extra zip file and put in the folder /core/packages. After that, go to the packages grid and click add new packages-->search for local packages.

Next, refresh the packages grid, and right click in the package you want to install.

If you’re using evolution, be sure to download evo version of extra. Mostly we need to extract the zip manually and do copy paste to snippet in manager. Just follow what Readme.txt/instruction says within the zip file.

I see there’s now a filter towards the top right of the main content area in Extras, so you can narrow your search and results display down to the Evolution + 0.9* or Revolution version of MODx. This is new, I think?

Very useful if you are an Evo user, as many snippets are being updated for Revo and were hiding the older version behind the distinctly indistinct 2Previous Releases" link.
