    Hi

When I try to run MODx Revolution setup on MacOS 10.5, I get an error "MODx requires the pdo_mysql driver when native PDO is being used and it does not appear to be loaded."

There seems to be no easy solution to installing PDO drivers (compiling PHP again holds no allure).

Is there a way around this? or do I need to install MAMP?

    thanks for any help.

MAMP is an easy way to do it.
I’m on 10.6 but I’m sure it will work fine (famous last words) with 10.5.

It is also not hard to get to get multiple sites working with MAMP - (mysite1.dev and mysite2.dev for example) you just need to edit a couple files and it works great - google it for details or try http://www.brockboland.com/2009/12/running-multiple-sites-in-mamp.php or http://njmac.blogspot.com/2008/07/mamp-virtual-domains.html

Yeah, MAMP is a good way to go. It had some glitches in the default php.ini, and you have to run it as an admin user, but it’s much easier getting MAMP up and running than it is to get the native Apache, MySQL, and PHP working together -- it takes some non-trivial sysadmin skills to get a webserver configured for this type of thing, so it’s much easier to use one of the pre-packaged all-in-one programs like MAMP or XAMP.
