I am trying to get this example code
    http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/icon-complex.html
to display as a MODX 1.0.5 document.

It displays fine as generated from the Google website in FF. When I copy and past that page’s source into a MODX doc (with a "blank" template associated with it), the map displays but the markers do not. Comparing the page sources of each of the pages in Notepad++ indicates they are identical. The same is true if I create a proper template and assign it to the document. Javascript is enabled and there are no errors being indicated by Firebug.

Checking the forums shows Google Map solutions that seem to use the older (v2, now deprecated) version of the API but nothing appearing to relate to v3 of the API.

Has anyone tried to get the v3 example code to work and either run into problems or not had a problem? If there were issues that were worked around, could the method be explained. Or is it just me? smiley

Any thoughts, tests, perspective, etc. would be welcome.
    TIA,
    Matt

It looks like the code was using relative paths to the marker images. E.g.

      images/beachflag.png
      <br /><br />What ended up working was using this<br />[code
      http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/images/beachflag.png
<br />in its place.<br /><br />Not sure if there’s another way around it, but it doesn’t really matter as I’d want to specify custom images anyway...<br /><br />Matt
