    Hi all,

I’m fairly new to Modx but have now developed a handful of sites successfully using it and I have to say I thinks its great!

Anyway I have been developing the site for my main employer, which is by far the most ambitious of the ones I have worked on.

It has been devoloped on MAMP on a local machine and all works great. I have transferred it over to our web hosts server, to do all the final preparations before going live, as I have done with other sites I have worked on. However I have hit a snag, when I log in to the manager the site works fine, I can preview all the pages and everything seems fine. However if I am not logged in to the manager when I view the site I get the SQL error below.

    « MODx Parse Error »
MODx encountered the following error while attempting to parse the requested resource:
« Execution of a query to the database failed - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ’’ at line 1 »
    SQL: SELECT setting_name, setting_value FROM `db357803503`.`modx_user_settings` WHERE setting_name=’manager_language’ AND user=

    It is hosted by 1and1.com

    MODx version 1.0.4
    Version codename rev 6981

    PHP Version 4.4.9
    Server API CGI

If any one has any ideas they would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Carl

Not sure if it would have any effect here, but clearing the site cache is always my first step when troubleshooting.

Judging by the error message you received, there may be some problem with your user settings table. Have you set up (or attempted to set up) any special permissions for web users? Maybe go into the Security > Web Permissions menu and see if there is anything in there that might have messed up the database

Looks to me like a stale browser cookie problem; somebody thinks he’s still logged in as a manager user (otherwise it wouldn’t be looking for his language settings) when he’s not.
